Procedures for Reporting an Illegal Apartment

In an effort to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all our residents the Village is increasing its efforts to locate and remove illegal apartments. When construction, plumbing and electrical work is done without the proper building permits the occupant’s safety is in question. We need your help!

If you are aware of an illegal apartment, or have a complaint for the Building Department you can call the complaint hotline at 241-4677. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR NAME! Please be assured that your complaint will be logged and receive a thorough investigation.

You may also call, write, or email us with any details explaining your complaint. Information detailing your observations with specific facts will be helpful. A supporting deposition is also available to you if you are willing to leave your name. Your deposition can be verified a number of ways: - being sworn before the Court where the accusatory instrument is filed; - before a police desk officer; - before another public servant authorized to administer an oath (Village Clerk or Notary); This information will be taken in private!
