Water and sewer usage is billed on a semi-annual basis, due in October and April. The bills are based on consumption multiplied by a rate that is set by resolution. See our linked rate schedule (water/sewer billing rates). The bill also includes a meter fee charge. A ten percent (10%) penalty is added to unpaid balances after the October 31 or April 30 due dates. Unpaid water and sewer rents may be levied on the tax roll.
Please note that it is important to notify the Deputy Receiver of Taxes of any address changes or if you want a renter to receive the bill. However, please understand that the property owner is still our primary water/sewer customer and is ultimately responsible for the payment of the water/sewer bill. Also, if you are selling or buying property in the Village/Town, we will prepare a final bill as a courtesy prior to closing. This office must have at least 48 hours prior notice for any final reading date. If a final meter reading and billing is not done, the new property owner becomes liable for any prior unpaid water/sewer utility bill(s). The Assessor's Office must also be notified of any permanent address changes in order for the property tax bill to be mailed to the correct address.
