Real Property Taxes Billing and Collection

Village property taxes are due in June and December, with 50% being due during each collection period.  School property taxes are due in September and January, with 50% due during each collection period.  Westchester County property taxes are due in April.

Please note that under New York State Law, we cannot waive penalties or interest on overdue or late tax payments, unless the Governor has issued an Executive Order and/or special legislation has been passed by the State Legislature.  Your tax payments must be received or postmarked by the United States Postal Service (postmarks produced by home/office postage machines are not sufficient) on or before the due date to avoid penalties and interest.  Due dates that fall on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday are automatically extended to the next business day.  Postdated checks cannot be applied to taxes due, and will be returned to the issuer, which may result in late payment penalties.

The Village/Town acts merely as an agent for the billing and collection of Bedford Central School District property taxes and County of Westchester property taxes for parcels within the Village/Town limits.  Inquiries other than the status of payments due should be addressed directly to the Bedford Central School District or the County of Westchester, as appropriate.

If you have recently paid off your mortgage, where your taxes were paid through an escrow account, it is advisable to contact the Receiver of Taxes' Office to insure your future tax bills are sent to the proper address.

If you are interested in our property tax liens, please note that the Village/Town adopted the New York State tax enforcement process.  Under this process, there is no public auction of tax liens.  The Village/Town holds all tax liens until redemption of the lien or foreclosure.  In the event of foreclosure, the Village/Town will advertise properties for auction in the legal notices section of the Village/Town's official newspaper (currently The Journal News, northern Westchester edition), and the Village/Town's official website.
