Acceptable Items:
 
Most properly labeled household chemicals, most automotive fluids, antifreeze, brake fluid and gasoline, chemistry kits, fire starter fluids, household batteries (rechargeable and button cell ONLY), kerosene, metal and jewelry polishes, paint thinners and solvents, pesticides/herbicides/insecticides, photographic chemicals, septic tank cleaners, swimming pool chemicals, turpentine, waxes and polishes, wood preservatives, used car tires, fluorescent light bulbs, TV's, personal computers and monitors are also accepted.
 
Not Accepted:
 
Empty chemical containers, oil and latex paint, motor oil, vehicle batteries, non-rechargeable household batteries, compressed gas cylinders/propane, helium and oxygen tanks, explosives/ammunition/flares, pharmaceutical/medical/biological wastes, smoke/fire detectors, materials from commercial & industrial users.

Recycle Cell Phones:

 
The Law:  As of June 1, 2006, it is against Westchester County Law to throw cell phones in the garbage.  Violators may be issued a warning or be fined up to $250.  Cell phones must be dropped off at locations certified by Westchester County.  They include Household Chemical Cleanup Day events, retail outlets or cell phone collection locations set up by local government offices, businesses, schools and not-for-profit organizations.
