Boards and Committees

The Village/Town of Mount Kisco has several specialized Boards, Commission and Committees that are made up of Village Resident volunteers.  To apply for open Board positions, please send a letter stating your qualifications to:

The list of Boards, Commissions and Committees are as follows:
  • Architectural Review Board - 3 year term - The ARB oversees the aesthetic environment of the community and works towards improving the Village's appearance primarily by review and approving all building and renovations, awnings, signs, etc. to comply with village design standards.
  • Beautification Committee - no term limitation - members are responsible for the plantings around Village Hall, the War Memorial, etc.  They conduct a yearly anti-litter campaign, which includes the Mount Kisco Clean-Up Day
  • Board of Assessment Review - 5 year term - members review and make determinations on grieveances filed relative to the assessment of income producing property in the Village.
  • Board of Ethics - 3 year term - members render advisory opinions on specific situations to officers and employees of the Village with respect to Article 18 of General Municipal Law and the Village Code of Ethics.
  • Board of Fire Commissioners - 4 year term
  • Byram Lake Committee - 3 year term 
  • Community Relations Committee  - 3 year term
  • Conservation Advisory Council - 2 year term - advises in the development, management and protection of the Village's natural resources.
  • Housing Authority - 5 year term
  • Landmark & Historical Preservation Commission - 3 year term
  • Leonard Park Committee - 5 year term - The purpose of the Leonard Park Committee is to advise the Board of Trustees and the Recreation Commission on all matters pertaining to Leonard Park and to control the use and development of Leonard Park so the recreational facilities there are used to the best advantage for community residents and be kept free from commercialism
  • Mount Kisco Historical Society
  • Planning Board - 3 year term  - members monitor Village development.  They review and approve site plans and subdivisions of property and serve as consultants to the Board of Trustees.
  • Recreation Commission - 7 year term - members are responsible for planning for the recreational needs for the Village; evaluating and approving all programs and activities of the Recreation Department; as well as operating, maintaining and equipping Village playgrounds and recreation centers.
  • Tree Preservation Board - 3 year term - in consultation with the Village Engineer, reviews applications for tree permit removal.
  • Village Historian - 3 year term
  • Zoning Board of Appeals - 5 year term - members decide on appeals for the issuance of variances to the Zoning Code and review all decisions relative to Village zoning ordinances.
